Lucky Miami resident wins life-changing $5m prize from scratch-off ticket

An incredibly lucky lottery player in Miami saw a $20 scratch-off ticket turn into a life-changing prize.

On Tuesday, the Florida Lottery confirmed that a 32-year-old Miami resident won one of the top prizes from Gold Rush Limited for a sweet $5m payout.

According to a statement released by the Lottery, the name of the lucky winner is Nathaniel Wrigley.

The fortunate man purchased his winning ticket at Dollar Plus on 13045 Southwest 88th Street in Miami.

Scratching off the ticket, the Miami resident realized that he had just won one of the game's top prizes for a $5m payday.

The odds of winning the top prize from Gold Rush Limited are 1 in 2,362,500.

At the launch of the $20 scratch-off game, there were a total of 32 prizes of $5m each. But since the recently won top prize, now, only one remains in play.

The Florida Lottery confirmed that Dollar Plus, the retailer that sold the winning ticket, will benefit from a $10,000 bonus commission.

On the other hand, Wrigley recently visited the Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee to claim his big win.

The fortunate man decided to receive a one-time lump cash sum of $3,960,000.00.

Wrigley did not reveal if he had any plans about the life-changing prize.

One more top prize remains in play from Gold Rush Limited

Currently, scratch-off games make up for a vital part of the Lottery's portfolio of games.

Approximately 74% of the ticket sales for the fiscal 2023-2024 year came from scratch-off games and since the launch of the Lottery, such games have made 2,283 millionaires, awarding more than $65.5bn in prizes.

Gold Rush Limited is one of the Lottery's popular scratch-off tickets.

The $20 ticket offers an overall chance of winning any prize of 1 in 2.65.

Besides the single $5m top prize that remains in play, the scratch-off game also offers $1m, $100,000 and $10,000 prizes.

While at the launch of Gold Rush Limited, there were 100 prizes of $1m each, now, eight remain in play.

The odds of winning a tier-two prize of $1m are 1 in 756,000.

On the other hand, out of 120 prizes of $100,000 each, now, only five remain in play with the odds of winning such a prize being 1 in 630,000.

Nearly 1,900 prizes of $10,000 at odds of 1 in 40,000 were available when Gold Rush Limited was introduced. From that total, now, 55 prizes remain in play.

The popular $20 ticket offers many prizes between $20 and $1,000.
