Lottery player on vacation buys tickets, wins share of $700K Fantasy 5 jackpot

Three lucky players in Michigan won a share of a jackpot of nearly $700,000 recently.

The Michigan Lottery's Fantasy 5 jackpot had increased to nearly $700,000 earlier this month.

However, three lucky winners won the grand prize from the draw on July 12 after guessing correctly the winning numbers, 8, 17, 18, 24 and 29.

Three players win Fantasy 5's jackpot

At the time, the exact amount of the jackpot was $697,974 which means that each of the three players won exactly $232,658, considering that the prize was split in three.

The Lottery confirmed that there was one player from Isabella County, one from Macomb County and one from Wayne County.

The winner from Isabella County, a lady who chose to remain anonymous, purchased her winning ticket via the Michigan Lottery's official website.

On the other hand, the Macomb County player, whose name was also not disclosed, bought her ticket from Groesbeck & Elizabeth Petro on 43561 Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township.

The third and final winner who received a $232,658 share from the Fantasy 5 jackpot purchased his ticket from Family Fare on 1002 Forest Avenue in Frankfort.

The winner's name is David Constantakis, a statement released by the Lottery reveals.

The winning ticket was purchased before a canoe trip

The 68-year-old winner from Wayne County confirmed that he plans to pay off his home thanks to the lottery win.

Constantakis also said that he plans to donate a part of the win and save the rest.

He recalled the day when he purchased the winning lottery ticket. This happened while he was on vacation in Frankfort.

On his way to a canoe trip, Constantakis stopped at a store to purchase some snacks and bought some tickets as well.

After the drawing, the 68-year-old winner tried scanning the tickets to see if they were winning.

This is when he received a message to see a retailer.

Constantakis spoke to his wife, asking her to check the tickets online.

"When she got to the last two numbers, she said: If we have 24 and 29, we are going to be sitting pretty," said the lucky winner.

The 68-year-old continued: "When I looked down at the ticket and confirmed those were my last two numbers, I was in awe!"

Fantasy 5 draws take place every night at 7:29 PM

Players interested in participating in Michigan Lottery's Fantasy 5 game need to purchase their tickets either online or via a retail outlet by 7:08 PM in order to participate in the same-day draw.

The game's drawings take place every night of the week at 7:29 PM.

The cost per play is $1 and it grants players a chance to win a prize between $1 and a starting jackpot of $100,000.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 5 and it's important to note that jackpots from Fantasy 5 are paid in one lump sum.
