Lucky player scores largest Fantasy 5 jackpot in Michigan

Earlier this week, an incredibly lucky lottery player from Macomb County, Michigan, secured the largest Fantasy 5 prize to date, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.

The popular game, offered by the Michigan Lottery's official website and at retail locations, holds drawings every day of the week.

Fantasy 5 launched back in 2004 and the record for the game's largest prize was a $924,880 win from January 17, 2020.

However, that record was recently broken after a 56-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, secured a $963,040 win.

The lucky winner purchased his ticket from Smoker's Express, located at 51124 D W Seaton Drive in New Baltimore.

To win the grand prize, the 56-year-old matched the numbers from the June 26 drawing, 04, 05, 08, 22 and 38.

The cost per play for Fantasy 5 is $1.

Lottery players who pay an extra $1 can access the game's EZmatch feature that grants them an instant chance to win a prize of up to $500.

On the other hand, lottery players can also pay an extra $1 per play for Fantasy 5's Double Play option which enables them to participate in the nightly Double Play drawing where they get a chance to secure a second-chance prize of up to $110,000.

Fantasy 5 drawings take place every night at 7:29 PM.

To participate in the same-day drawing, players need to purchase their tickets online or via retail outlets no later than 7:08 PM on the same day.

The winner is a seasoned player

Speaking to Lottery officials when collecting his win, the 56-year-old player admitted to playing Fantasy 5 every day.

He said that the day after the drawing, he heard that the jackpot from the game was won.

The Macomb County man visited the Michigan Lottery's official website to check where the ticket was sold and was surprised to that it was the same location where he purchased his ticket.

However, the man wasn't aware that he won the jackpot as the ticket wasn't in him.

Still, the lucky winner called his wife and told her that the store that sold him his ticket had a big winner.

"That night, my wife and I looked the ticket over together, and that's when I found out I was the big winner," explained the fortunate player.

Moreover, he said: "I didn't know how to feel at first because I didn't believe it was real. Now that it's finally sunk in, it feels great."

Recently, another fortunate lottery player secured a major prize from one of Michigan Lottery's games.

The player from Muskegon County purchased a ticket for Fire & Ice Cashword game, an instant game.

To his surprise, the 64-year-old man who initially thought he had won $100 realized that his win was $300,000.
