Jacksonville woman wins $103K from favorite digital instant game

A lottery player was pleasantly surprised by a six-figure win after buying a digital instant game ticket worth less than $1.

The winner scored the jackpot with a $0.50 ticket

Earlier this week, the North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed the identity of the lucky winner Dawn Dildy, a Jacksonville resident.

The fortunate Onslow County woman won the "Epic jackpot" from the Lottery's digital instant game, Wheel of Bonuses.

Hitting the jackpot with a ticket worth only $0.50, the incredibly lucky woman scored a $103,096 payday late last week.

As one of the many digital instant games, Wheel of Bonuses offers players a chance to win a range of prizes with tickets costing as little as $0.50 all the way up to $30.00 per play.

What's interesting about the game is that the odds change depending on the ticket cost.

Usually, the odds of scoring the game's progressive jackpot are 1 in 31,034,483.

However, in Dildy's case, considering that she bought a $0.50 ticket, the odds were 1 in 62 million. Still, undoubtedly that was her lucky day, considering that she won the hefty jackpot.

The Onslow County woman played her favorite digital instant game

In a press release, the North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed that Dildy recently visited the headquarters to claim her prize.

The fortunate winner did not mention any immediate plans about the windfall with the exception of paying some bills.

Considering the relevant state and federal taxes that apply to lottery winnings, the Onslow County woman collected a total of $73,714.

Asked by Lottery officials, Dildy revealed that the Wheel of Bonuses digital instant game is her favorite game.

The lottery player admitted to playing every day she can.

"I always thought you probably had to play a $10 or $20 ticket to hit the jackpot," said Dildy.

Moreover, the lucky winner revealed: "I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that I won. It’s truly amazing."

Asked about the time she realized she scored the big prize, the Jacksonville woman said that she immediately called her daughters.

Comically, her daughters initially didn't believe her, so the lucky winner sent them screenshots to persuade them.

"They were really happy for me," Dildy admitted.

After the winner took down the progressive jackpot, it restarted from $50,000.

Currently, the jackpot is estimated at $149,952.

The odds of winning any prize from the Wheel of Bonuses digital instant game are 1 in 3.86.

The game is one out of 31 different digital instant games offered by the North Carolina Education Lottery's website and its official mobile application.
