A lucky Mega Millions player in Michigan scored a life-changing prize recently.

Single ticket matches five winning numbers for a multi-million-dollar prize

Earlier this week, the Michigan Lottery confirmed that a single ticket matched five winning numbers from Mega Millions drawing on Friday.

The fortunate player, whose identity isn't publicly confirmed, purchased their winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

Matching correctly the five white balls, 15, 37, 38, 56 and 58 on the recent drawing, the lucky player scored a life-changing prize of $3m.

While usually, matching five winning numbers would award a $1m prize, the Michigan lottery player paid extra for the game's Megaplier, enabling him to collect the life-changing $3m thanks to the drawing's 3X multiplier.

After scoring the tier-two prize from Mega Millions, the player now has one year from the date of the drawing to claim the big win.

The fortunate winner, whoever that may be, can contact the Michigan Lottery's Player Relations Division at 844-917-6325 and start the claiming process.

Suzanna Shkreli, the Michigan Lottery's Commissioner, shared her excitement, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.

"A Michigan Lottery player cashed in on the new Mega Millions game Friday night when they won a $3 million prize with a ticket bought at MichiganLottery.com," she revealed.

Finally, Shkreli said: "The enhanced Mega Millions game will bring players bigger jackpots more often, which will generate sales and have a positive impact on the Lottery’s contribution to the School Aid Fund."

Mega Millions drawings take place on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Players need to match five balls between numbers 1 and 70, as well as one Mega Ball number between numbers 1 and 24, to win the top prize.

Each ticket grants players a chance to win a prize starting from $10 to a jackpot that continues to grow until won.

The overall chances of winning any prize from Mega Millions are 1 in 23.

The popular lottery game's next drawing is scheduled for Friday, April 18, 2025.

The estimated jackpot for Mega Millions' upcoming drawing is $112m. The cash option for the top prize is $49.3m.
