A fortunate couple will be looking forward to an Italian retirement after scoring a six-figure lottery win.
That’s the story of one South Morang, Victoria, Australia pair, who won a life-enhancing prize from a scratch-off ticket.
The fortunate man decided to try his luck with the AU$5 Win Pigs Can Fly Bingo Extra Instant Scratch-Its ticket. He purchased the ticket from Central South Morang Lotto.
Surprisingly, the AU$5 ticket brought the fortunate man a sweet AU$100,000 prize ($70,000).
Mandy Song, the manager of the lottery outlet that sold the winning ticket, said it was amazing to change the life of a person by selling a Scratch-Its ticket with a top prize.
Song confirmed in an interview with The Lott that the winner initially didn’t believe the prize was real.
"Then the excitement kicked in! He was absolutely thrilled and immediately called his wife to share the incredible news. What a life-changing moment," the lottery outlet’s manager added.
Song explained that the last time Central South Morang Lotto sold a top-prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was around the same time last year.
"We’re proud to be part of our local community and hope to continue creating many more memorable moments for our customers," she said.
The fortunate husband revealed that he usually buys a Powerball ticket along with one Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
"When I checked it, my wife was across the road at the store. I called her and said, ‘I hope you’re sitting down! I think I’ve won $100,000’. After that she rushed right over," the winner explained, recalling the moment of the life-changing win.
The husband said that he usually wins smaller prizes like AU$5 or AU$20 and remembered that he had only once won an AU$500 prize from Powerball, but nothing bigger than that.
He acknowledged the moment is incredibly exciting for himself and his wife.
Asked about his plans for his newfound fortune, the man said he and his wife are looking to retire and go to Italy. Finally, he recognized the life-enhancing prize will be of huge help.
