Aussie man in disbelief after lottery ticket brings him AU$3.33m

An incredibly fortunate man who deliberately purchased the cheapest-possible lottery ticket was surprised by a multi-million-dollar prize.

That’s the story of one person from a suburb called Gordon in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, who scored a division one prize from a popular lottery game.

Saturday Lotto produces three division one winning entries

The lucky man, whose identity wasn’t publicly revealed, decided to try his luck by entering Saturday Lotto’s draw 4699 on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Interestingly, his AU$5.75 ($4.00) ticket, emerged as one of the three division one winning entries from that particular draw.

As a result, the Gordon man’s lottery ticket brought him a life changing AU$3,333,333.34 ($2,332,783.34) prize.

The two other division one winning entries are also entitled to the same AU$3.33m ($2.33m) prize each.

"Oh my god! Is this real?"

The incredibly lucky Sydneysider purchased his winning 6-game QuickPick entry from The Lott’s official mobile application.

A representative of The Lott contacted the fortunate player to give him the good news on Monday, but the Gordon man initially didn’t answer his phone.

However, after checking the lottery mobile app, the winner immediately contacted The Lott back.

"Oh my god! Is this real? I’m on my way to work. Oh my god. I ignored your calls but then I popped into my app and I just can’t believe it," the lucky man explained.

In disbelief, the man admitted that he had to pinch himself several times before realizing that the lottery windfall was real.

Interestingly, the player admitted that he usually only buys tickets when the prize is more than AU$10m.

Considering that wasn’t the case for the latest drawing, the player admitted that he just wanted to buy the cheapest QuickPick, remembering that he paid only AU$5.75.

"It goes to show you don’t need an expensive ticket," the fortunate Gordon man said.

Not unexpectedly, the winner was asked if he had plans for his newfound fortune.

Acknowledging that the AU$3.33m prize is completely life-changing, the player said that he already has a lot of things planned, saying he will consider making a downpayment on his house, buying a new car and going on vacation.

"I’m still in complete shock. Thank you so much," the newly minted millionaire said in conclusion.
