Aussie lottery player keeps it cool after winning life-changing prize

One lucky player kept his cool, despite hearing the news that he had just won a life-changing lottery prize.

That's the case of a Melbourne, Australia, resident, who scored the top prize from The Lott's Set for Life game.

Lyndhurst man wins Set for Life top prize

The fortunate winner joined the game's drawing on Monday, February 2, 2026.

The winning numbers from draw 3833 on Monday were 2, 6, 22, 12, 5, 27 and 21, while supplementary numbers were 33 and 37.

Surprisingly, the Lyndhurst man emerged as the winner, holding the single division one winning entry.

As a result, the Melbourne resident won AU$20,000 ($14,000) per month for the next 20 years from Set for Life's recent drawing.

The division one lottery prize translates to AU$4.8m ($3.4m), paid via monthly installments of AU$20,000 ($14,000) every month for a total of two decades.

The fortunate winner is the 6th division one winner from Set for Life in this financial year.

At the same time, the lucky Lyndhurst man is the 164th Set for Life division one winning entry nationally since the launch of the game.

Randon numbers used for years brought the fortunate player the big prize

When an official from The Lott contacted the lucky winner to give him the good news, the Melbourne resident remained calm.

The fortunate man said that he was doing his morning routine and was just about the sip his coffee and check his lottery tickets.

"Wow! Thank you, thank you very much," the winner said.

Interestingly, the Melbourne resident outlined that he has been using the same lottery numbers for years.

"They were random numbers I chose around five years ago and I just continued to replay them," he explained.

Despite winning a life-changing prize, the lucky man said he was able to keep his cool.

"I’m pretty calm because I never get shocked by most things. Even if you said I’d won $50 million, I would be just sitting like nothing happened," the winner added.

The incredibly lucky soul was asked about his plans for the unexpected fortune.

The winner answered that he is yet to make plans about the life-changing lottery prize, adding that once he sees the money in his bank account, he will celebrate.

Finally, the Melbourne man said that he intends to keep it "chill" and not tell anyone.
