An Australian lottery player, who considered himself unlucky, admitted that his luck might be finally changing after winning a life-altering AU$820,000 ($535,000) lottery prize.
On Monday, The Lott confirmed that one Hervey Bay man scored a division one winning entry from its popular game, Saturday Gold Lotto.
On the game's draw 4615, drawn on Saturday, October 11, 2025, a total of eight division one winning entries were produced.
Each division one winning entry is entitled to a sweet AU$820,141.42 ($535,000).
The winning numbers from draw 4615 were 43, 21, 37, 33, 32 and 9, while supplementary numbers were 17 and 30.
According to a statement released by The Lott, besides the Hervey Bay man's division one winning entry, there was another top prize winning entry from Queensland.
On the other hand, Saturday Gold Lotto's draw 4615 also saw two winning entries each from Western Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory.
The lucky man from Hervey Bay purchased his 50-game QuickPick entry online via The Lott's official app.
The fortunate Queenslander was contacted by the lottery and notified about the big win.
When an official from The Lott confirmed the big windfall, the man said: "This is insane! I thought it was a mistake, a gee up."
Moreover, the Hervey Bay man said that winning the division one prize is life-changing.
Despite winning a hefty jackpot, the Queenslander considered himself unlucky, at least before scoring the big win.
"I have no luck. I’m not a lucky person, but I guess it’s changed, and it’s all been building to this," he said.
The Queenslander added: "I’ve been replaying this same ticket since the start of last year. My theory is that the numbers will come to me if I stick to them."
The winner said that while he checked the ticket on Saturday night after the drawing, he didn't believe what had just happened and added that he hasn't slept since.
Winning the life-changing sum was so unbelievable that the Hervey Bay man admitted that he still hasn't told his wife.
"I just wanted confirmation that it was true," he said, explaining that after the reassurance from The Lott, he will now also talk to a financial advisor.
Asked about his plans for his newfound fortune, the man, who saw his luck change, said that he will likely pay off the mortgage on his home and invest what's left to help his family in the future.
