A Macomb County man in Michigan has won a life-altering amount after securing the big prize at the Spectacular Wild Time instant game.
The win was finally revealed when the 69-year-old winner made the trip to the headquarters on Friday last week and produced the winning ticket.
The winner, however, has chosen to remain anonymous, with some details about the actual win still being released to the public, all the same. The win, the lucky soul said, came only two months after he started playing the $5 ticket.
Up until that point, the person had stuck to the $2 tickets only. "I'm glad I made the move up to the $5 games because it sure paid off," the winner shared in an effusive recount of events.
Much like other winners before him, the man had difficulty grasping what happened at first. He scratched off the film from the ticket and stared at the piece of paper, figuring that he had won $5 or $10.
"When I was scratching the ticket, I saw I matched the number six, but I finished scratching the rest of the ticket before revealing the winning amount, which I assumed was $5 or $10," he said, but upon a closer inspection, he realized that there were more zeroes, leading to the six-figure prize!
"It was unbelievable," the person attested. The lottery also released the place where the person bought the ticket, identifying the property as Little Mack Beer & Wine, located at 28480 Little Mack Avenue in Saint Clair Shores.
Big jackpots like these are pretty common, and scratchers are usually the ones to produce them. In July, a mother of five in North Carolina won $4.7m playing the Outlaw's Loot digital game, leading to her big win.
A player in Michigan also won in June, scooping up $1,000,000 after playing a $10 scratcher, and screaming for minutes when they realized what had happened.
