SBC Summit Tony Hawk

SBC Events continues its long and exciting tradition of bringing formidable athletes as part of its major events, and the latest person to grace the upcoming SBC Summit is legendary skater Tony Hawk who will be delivering a keynote in front of a crowd of 25,000 attendees, the largest an industry confab has pulled.

Tony Hawk shares his business and brand acumen with the gambling industry

The keynote titled "Tony Hawk - What Keeps The Wheels Turning on a Global Brand" will open the several-day event which is taking place at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa on September 24-26, and it will be part of the event’s "Super Stage" in the MEO Arena.

Hawk will go over his career and how he became the best in what he does, starting with his introduction to skating to his subsequent business successes with Activision game studios, and founding his sporting brand.

His keynote is not just about reminiscences, but also about how a brand can stay relevant, imparting his own business acumen and what led him to succeed over the years as not just an athlete but also someone in charge of a business and a brand. Hawk shared his enthusiasm about the upcoming opportunity, and said:

"I am excited to be headlining SBC Summit in Lisbon this September. Although the worlds of skateboarding and gambling might seem very different, I believe many parallels and lessons can be very relatable to companies in this industry.

Whether it is forming long-lasting partnerships, establishing a successful and recognisable brand or maintaining relevance in a predominantly digital world, my story can provide valuable insights for all those attending."

Hawk went on to become a professional skater at the age of 14 when he signed up for the Powell Peralta professional team and was featured in the Bones Brigade videos, setting him on a lifetime path to success.

Decades worth of successes and what the gambling industry can learn

Over the 23years he competed actively, Hawk secured 73 titles and won the NationalSkateboard Association’s Vert Champion for 12 consecutive years. He also won 16 X Games medals and has been over and around the world of skateboarding for decades, contributing not only to his monumental status, but also helping develop the hobby.

Hawk’s achievements are many and he has worked on launching multiple businesses and charities supporting the skateboard community. Commenting on Hawk’s appearance at the SBC Summit, SBC CEO & Founder Rasmus Sojmark added that he was very pleased to see one of the most prominent iconic athletes of the 20th century do the honors and keynote the SBC Summit.

"Not only did Tony revolutionize the world of skateboarding, but through strong branding, incredible athleticism, and genre-defining video games, he brought skateboarding into mainstream pop culture. There are certainly many lessons to be learned from this legend, and I am extremely excited to witness Tony’s headline keynote on the Super Stage," Sojmark concluded.
