Scientific Games to help Latvijas Loto achieve retail growth

Scientific Games will be powering the Latvian national lottery as part of a new system struck with Latvijas Loto, the official operator. As a result, Scientific Games will present the local operator with its advanced gaming systems technology, part of a long-term contract that the two parties have now negotiated and agreed to. This is an extension of the 20-year partnership the companies already have, with Scientific Games providing Latvijas Loto with instant games among other solutions. The new contract will cover the next ten years.

Commenting on this opportunity, Latvijas Loto Chairman of the Board Edgars Lediņš said that the operator has done extensive research as to how to best optimize and modernize its existing systems. In the end, Scientific Games’ offer has proven to be the best for the experience, and it fully meets the company’s growth potential. He added:

"We look forward to the efficiencies this technology advancement will bring to our entire operation, and our retailers will be delighted with the new terminals and support they will receive."

The two parties have agreed to launch in the first or second quarter of 2023 with Scientific Games now assisting the lottery to achieve some of its more ambitious objectives. One such is the desired growth of retail points-of-sales by 50%. This should be done responsibly, though.

To assist with this ambition, Scientific Games will be delivering both its WAVE X retailer point-of-sale terminals and the AEGIS open architecture enterprise gaming system. Scientific Games welcomed the opportunity to be assisting the Latvian lottery operator once again. Company CEO Pat McHugh said that the companies will be looking to consolidate their partnership over the next decade and ensure that growth is maximized over the coming years.

McHugh assured that his company’s commitment to innovation is well-aligned with Latvijas Loto’s own responsible growth gambling plans. Scientific Games is also a global behemoth that presently provides 130 lotteries in 50 countries globally with advanced and actionable retail and online solutions.

Scientific Games has been able to cultivate successful partnerships that often go back decades. It most recently expanded with the Colorado Lottery and Loto-Québec.
