The mobile-first developer and publisher of games, Sandsoft Games, announced a new senior-level appointment. Earlier this week, the company strengthened its team of experts with the addition of Meta's former Head of AR, Ahmed Sharif. Joining Sandsoft Games, he was appointed to the role of Chief Technology Officer.
The seasoned expert with extensive experience within the gaming vertical marks a fine addition to the growing team of the mobile-first game developer. Sharif brings a unique skill set and wide knowledge within the gaming vertical after holding senior-level roles with leading globally-recognized gaming companies.
In his new role as Chief Technology Officer, he is expected to provide strategic guidance and advice, helping Sandsoft Games' dedicated experts. He is going to play an important role in the development of technology and innovation at the company and complements the growth of its team.
Currently, Sandsoft Games has a growing team of more than 50 experts, working within the company's offices in Barcelona, Helsinki, Shanghai and their headquarters in Riyadh. As Chief Technology Officer, Sharif will focus on Sandsoft Games' Publishing Platform and provide strategic guidance for the development and growth of the studio, including its engineering teams.
Sandsoft Games' new Chief Technology Officer shared his excitement in a statement, saying: "Throughout my career, I’ve worked on technology and content that delivers unforgettable gaming experiences." He acknowledged the company's dedication to delivering engaging and thrilling games, adding that those objectives align perfectly with his extensive knowledge and experience. David Fernandez, Sandsoft Games' CEO, was similarly excited about the latest C-suite addition. "It goes without saying that Ahmed is a significant hire for Sandsoft. He has spearheaded engineering strategy for many of the most recognizable commercial technology products and worked on globally renowned gaming titles," he said. Last but not least, Fernandez added: "I’m excited to welcome him to the team and convinced that he’ll play a major role in driving the next phase of Sandsoft’s growth."
Besides holding a leadership role at Meta, Sharif was also a part of entertainment and gaming giants, including Sony Interactive Entertainment, Criterion Games, and EA. Throughout his career, he played an important role in the development of famous games such as Pearl's Peril, and the iconic Need for Speed. Sharif also contributed to the development of PS4, PS4 Pro, PSVR1, as well as EA's famous Frostbite game engine.
