The French soccer powerhouse argues that Cbet claims the casino is a partner to PSG, even though the partnership has now lapsed.

Cbet gets targeted by former partner Paris Saint-Germain with bankruptcy claim

Paris Saint-Germain, one of the world’s most prominent soccer powerhouses, has launched legal proceedings against Cbet, a crypto casino, which has been accused of several violations.

PSG has reportedly opened a bankruptcy claim against the company in Curaçao and previously had a gambling sponsorship deal with the brand. This partnership lapsed in December 2022, but Cbet still maintains on its official website that it is a club sponsor in Latin America.

In retaliation, PSG has targeted AK Global NV, which is the brand’s parent company, with the hearing date for the bankruptcy claim now set for January 22 and to be held at the Curaçao Joint Court of Justice.

Cbet also lost its Curaçao license after it launched bankruptcy proceedings around the same time that the Spanish Gambling Regulatory also fined the company $5.25m. Cbet is said to have failed to pay the fine, which only added to its difficulties.

Cbet is one of many casinos to have recently faced increased scrutiny. The company is also blocked in places such as France and the United Kingdom already.

Curaçao casinos come under increased scrutiny after recent controversies

BC.Game, another casino is also said to have gone bankrupt, but while these individual brands have been heavily criticized, a similar level of criticism has been directed straight at the licensing regime in the jurisdiction which has allowed and issued these operators licenses.

BC.Game is also a prominent soccer club partner, having negotiated a Leicester City FC shirt sponsorship, but it’s similarly facing headwinds.

BC.Game has already closed its UK TGP Europe website, as clouds over Curacao’s licensing regime continue to gather.

Onlookers have criticized Curaçao’s laxity in issuing licenses to prominent companies without due process.
