Pennsylvania reports $6.4bn in gambling revenue, sets new record

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the state's gambling regulator, released its latest financial report, pointing to a new revenue record from legal gambling.

The state recorded a notable increase in gambling revenue year-over-year

The report covers the Fiscal Year 2024/2025 or the period between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

Notably, the Board acknowledged that it reached a new record revenue of $6,394,641,819, derived from regulated gambling across the state.

The $6.4bn result includes the combined revenue from different forms of legal gambling in Pennsylvania, including casino slots and table games, sports betting, iGaming, video gaming terminals (VGTs), as well as fantasy sports contests.

The latest revenue result represents an increase when compared to the $5.89bn figure reported during the fiscal year of 2023/2024.

Considering that the revenue increased year-over-year, so did the taxes collected from legal gambling in Pennsylvania.

During the 2023/2024 fiscal year, tax revenue from regulated gambling was approximately $2.54bn.

In contrast, during the latest period, the taxes revenue soared to nearly $2.8bn, setting a new record.

A press release from the PGCB explains: "The estimated amounts for revenue and taxes being reported are prior to any possible adjustments by the PA Department of Revenue."

Taxes from regulated gambling activities provide vital funding for state, county and local development projects and initiatives, support the agricultural industry and boost the Commonwealth's General Fund.

iGaming revenue soars, land-based slots revenue on par with 2023/2024 figure

A breakdown provided by the gambling regulator reveals that the latest revenue result was positively impacted by the exceptional growth of iGaming.

For the fiscal year 2024/2025, the revenue from iGaming in Pennsylvania increased to $2.48bn.

Comparison to the $1.95bn result points to an increase of 27.09% year-over-year.

Additional data from the PGCB's report outlines that the revenue from land-based slot machines across the state was $2.44bn, a figure that was approximately on par with the result from last year.

On the other hand, table games revenue for the fiscal year 2024/2025 decreased by 3.04% to $928.9m.

Sports betting revenue also recorded a slight decrease of 0.22% year-over-year to $487.6m.

While fantasy contests revenue decreased by 0.66% to $19.1m for the fiscal year 2024/2025, VGTs revenue increased by 0.70% to $41.4m.
