The state-owned limited liability company under the Ministry of Culture in Norway, which has exclusive rights to operate gambling games across the country, Norsk Tipping, is making changes to its senior-level team.

Earlier in the week, Norsk Tipping confirmed that Helge Løken, its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), is stepping down from his role.

CTO says Norsk Tipping has other needs now, which is why it is time to step down

In a press release, the gambling monopoly company explained that the C-suite change was necessary, considering changes to its field of technical operations have been made.

Considering those operational changes, the company agreed with Løken that he would resign from his senior-level position.

It is unclear whether or not Norsk Tipping will consider appointing a successor for the CTO role, or if the change in its technical operations strategy would not require such a hire.

In a statement, Løken addressed the decision to resign from the CTO role at Norsk Tipping.

"When I was hired, the mandate was to focus on the company's development capabilities. We all know that the past year has made it necessary to give technical operations a higher priority," the outgoing executive said.

Moreover, he pointed out: "I understand that the company has other needs now. Therefore, it is right for me to step aside."

Vegar Strand, Norsk Tipping's acting CEO, also commented on the topic.

"Helge has contributed valuable expertise and leadership during a time that has been both challenging and crucial for the company," the executive said.

Finally, Strand acknowledged that Norsk Tipping demands a "profile with stronger operational experience," thus changes to its structure in the field of technical operations are required.
