  • The MGCB has acted against 10 offshore gambling sites
  • The websites are operated by the same entity
  • Michigan is fighting back against both traditional gaming and sweepstakes websites

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued a new cease-and-desist letter to 10 offshore gambling websites targeted in the regulator’s latest enforcement action.

MGCB issues cease-and-desist letters to 10 websites and their owner

The websites in question were all operated by the same entity, Apex Dynamics Ltd, and the watchdog argues they have been offering various unlicensed gaming and betting products to local players in the Great Lakes States.

By this token, they are considered unregulated entities, and therefore "illegal" in Michigan, the regulator said in its official notice published on its website. Specifically, the websites and their operator have been served with cease-and-desist letters.

The ten websites named by the regulator are as follows:

  • Aladdin’s Gold Casino
  • All Star Slots
  • Buzz Luck
  • Club World Casinos
  • CryptoReels
  • High Noon
  • Lucky Red Casino
  • Manhattan Slots Casino
  • ReelSpin Casino
  • Slotter Casino

Multiple state laws were breached, the MGCB argues

The cease-and-desist letters sent to Apex Dynamics Ltd signal clearly that the regulator would tolerate activity related to gaming that it considers to be unlawful.

The specific state laws breached according to the MGCB are covered under the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

The 10 websites have been given the customary 14-day deadline to comply with the cease-and-desist letters. The letters were issued on Monday, March 24.

The MGCB has been operating against various entities that have been providing gaming products without the necessary licenses, according to the regulator. Michigan is one of the handful of US states that also offers online casino games on top of its sports betting market.

This has made the regulator more proactive in counteracting unlicensed entities, going after MyBookie, a prominent offshore operator in February, along with nine other offshore gambling sites that same month.
