Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has confirmed that it will be rebranding its GiG Media outfit ahead of a planned split in Q3 2024, with the latter becoming known as Gentoo Media moving forward.
GiG is hoping to leverage its new name and identity to drive stronger results across the board and establish itself more firmly into the iGaming industry. The name has not been picked randomly, either.
GiG Media has chosen to pay tribute to its Rebel Penguin heritage, the Arctic penguin species Gentoo which is known for its commitment to teamwork and prospering as a part of a broader community. This is precisely the message that GiG Media wants to convey with the rebrand to Gentoo Media.
Commenting on this decision, GiG CEO Jonas Warrer said that the launch of the new brand is a significant milestone for the company, and a step forward to separating the GiG Media business from the rest of Gaming Innovation Group.
"Gentoo has been created with all our partners and employees in mind, ensuring to communicate an accurate and genuine view of ourselves, the business and what we stand for and believe in," Warrer added.
GiG Media’s rebranding move is also designed to help establish the company as a leading affiliate unit in the iGaming space. The rebranding itself is a signal that GiG will seek to elicit superior results for its partners and its business operations, delivering an impactful value to shareholders.
Commenting on this opportunity, Chairman of the Board Mikael Harstad said that the rebrand of GiG Media was a pivotal moment in the company’s history, splitting two of its core businesses to pursue their own growth opportunities and explore different strategies, driving shareholder value in the process.
"The launch of Gentoo is a testament to the organisation's dedication to delivering superior quality and results in every aspect of the business, and is setting the company off to a great start," Harstad noted.
In the meantime, GiG’s platform business has been able to establish multiple prominent B2B partnerships all over the world. The company teamed up with Betway in Portugal, helping the operator debut in the country for the first time.
Earlier this year, GiG and Casumo negotiated a platform partnership extension throughout 2027.
