Gamstop has published its report highlighting the program’s efforts in reducing gambling-related harm and helping people get their lives back on track.
The latest overview of those efforts, captured in the Gamstop Group 2025 Annual Report, indicates that in 2025 alone, 117,756 new people have registered to limit or/and exclude themselves from gambling.
The program currently runs nearly 562,000 active exclusions, indicative of the number of people who are still using Gamstop to limit or restrict their gambling habits.
Gamstop continues to strengthen its commitment to making gambling safer, and specifically offers vulnerable, at-risk, or suffering gamblers the chance to get their lives back on track through comprehensive solutions and educational resources that do not simply stop at exclusion.
During the year, Gamstop notably relaunched its website with a new design, introducing a new five-year auto-renewal self-exclusion option. The organization also focused on data and heatmapping tools to ensure that partners are supported and aided in helping reduce the stem of problem gambling in the country.
" 2025 was a landmark year for The Gamstop Group, not only in the continued growth and impact of our services, but also in how we are evolving to meet changing patterns of gambling harm and user need. As my first year as Chair, I’m incredibly proud of the progress made across the Group," the organizaiton’s new Chair, Chris Pond, has commented.
Gamstop took the occasion of the report announcement to also introduce several new non-executive directors, with Kevin Beerling and Mike Dixon stepping down from the Board to be succeeded by Jo Costello and David Spruce.
Costello is Head of Membership Services at Rape Crisis England & Wales, and has extensive experience supporting vulnerable people and helping them regain control of their lives.
David Spruce has extensive experience as an accountant over the past 30 years, and he is Treasurer and Trustee of Alzheimer’s Research UK, and occupies several other prominent positions.
Commenting on the two new non-executive directors joining, Pond said that the incoming hires were an important part in helping to strengthen what Gamstop does.
Gamstop also appointed its first Head of External Affairs in the face of Matt Burgiss, who is joining from GamCare where he worked for the past eight years, and most recently as Development Manager.
Burgiss also used Gamstop to recover from his own problem gambling in 2016, and he has worked on the TalkBanStop collaboration to help others pry away the same sense of control back away from their addiction.
