  • Gamecheck becomes headline sponsor for one of the most impactful player safety initiatives industry-wide
  • The goal is to showcase the company’s blockchain-fueled technology, which protects operators and suppliers from intellectual theft, thus adding to the consumer protection narrative in a practical way
  • Elliott is convinced that investing in sustainability and compliance, despite its upfront costs, is the best long-term strategy overall

As one of the biggest industry events is set to return, preparations are underway. To this end, ICE Barcelona’s Sustainable Gambling Zone (SGZ) is getting a lot of attention, with a new headline sponsor just selected - Gamecheck.

Sustainability is a priority for Gamecheck as the company becomes the headline sponsor for SGZ

Gamecheck is a company that leverages blockchain technology to help operators verify the legitimacy of the available games and protect brands from fake game implementations.

By providing verified and secure games, operators can help maintain a safe and responsible online environment.

Speaking to Clarion Gaming about the partnership, Gamecheck Founder James Elliott welcomed the opportunity to be the headline sponsor for the SGZ, adding:

"The Sustainable Gambling Zone has been at the forefront of developments impacting safe gambling, and through our sponsorship, we will be demonstrating our unwavering commitment to player protection and improving the overall safety of iGaming."

He hailed the SGZ as the most respected player protection initiative and an ideal place to showcase how the companycontributes to player and operator protection from bad actors and fraudulent implementations.

"We’re not talking about player protection in theoretical terms," he added. "We provide operators with the tools they need to prove they are offering legitimate, fair gaming experiences and to protect their brands from being undermined by fake or manipulated games," Elliott added, further explaining his company’s approach to contributing to player safety.

Early investment in compliance and sustainability yields long-term results

Elliott is convinced that sustainable gambling requirements are how the industry remains competitive and addresses the threat from the offshore and black market. While acknowledging the upfront costs, Elliott believes there is a long-term rationale behind investing more heavily in sustainability.

"From a pure business perspective, the cost of not prioritising sustainable gambling far outweighs the cost of compliance," he explained.

Gamecheck contributes to the industry-wide effort to protect consumers by protecting the intellectual property of companies that are committed to maintaining fair play and offering the safest possible options to casino players without impinging on the experience.

The Sustainable Gambling Zone is due to take place during ICE Barcelona, held at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, January 19-21, 2026.
