  • The Gambling Standards Harmonization Conferences seek to create a standardized regulatory framework
  • This is a collaboration between theInternational Gambling Standards Summit and the Association of Gaming Regulators in Africa

A new series of gambling conferences focused on strengthening regulatory standards across Africa has been announced. A collaborative effort between the International Gambling Standards Summit and the Association of Gaming Regulators in Africa, the Gambling Standards Harmonization Conferences will focus on helping establish unified industry standards.

New African industry gathering seeks to bring regulators together in charting the region’s future

The focal point will be enhancing consumer protection, promoting responsible gambling, and fostering a stable and sustainable business environment for gambling operators, an official press statement argues, with a full list of events already announced by the hosts. While the dates may still change, a preliminary look now pins them for:

  • February 10-13, 2026, in Kenya
  • March 16-19, 2027, in South Africa (Region)
  • March 7-10, 2028, in West Africa (Region)

The first location has been picked, too, with Nairobi to play host to the inaugural event on February 10-13 in Kenya next year. The event will, as hosts hope, bring together gambling regulators, national standards bodies, operators, various industry stakeholders, and others, who will together review and draft standards.

To ensure that the event does not limit itself to a specific region only, subsequent events have already been placed on the calendar, with expectations high for the Gambling Standards Harmonization Conferences in Africa.
