The sports betting market in Africa has long been identified as a significant opportunity for local and overseas companies to do business. Following the success of Sports Betting East Africa Summit 2023, which was held in Kampala, Uganda, Eventus International is returning with a yet new format for Sports Betting West Africa+ Summit which will be held in Lagos, Nigeria.
This particular event will focus on the West African market and bring together global operators and providers keen on entering the fastest-growing sports betting region in the world. The event also features the SBWA+ Eventus Awards 2023, nominations for which are ongoing. The SBWA+ 2023 is set to take place on August 23 – August 25 at the Federal Palace Hotel & Casino and is one of many planned such opportunities this year and next.
Eventus International has already outlined more events to follow next year as well, including the BiG Africa Summit to be hosted in Johannesburg, South Africa on March 26 – March 28, 2024. This is the tenth edition of the gathering and one of the most prominent industry meet-ups, the organizers note. Once again, this event too comes with its own set of awards, with the BiG 5 Eventus Awards 2024 nominations now accessible on the official event’s website.
Then, Eventus International is planning the Gaming Event Francophone Africa hosted out of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire on April 23 – April 24, 2024. This event has a particular emphasis on Francophone Africa, and the business opportunities that can be realized in the region. There will be stimulating sessions, interesting speakers, and many opportunities for delegates to strengthen their knowledge of this particular aspect of the market.
Wrapping up, next year’s edition of Sports Betting East Africa+ is then set for July 1 – July 2, 2024 and will be hosted in Kampala, Uganda. This will be the 9th Annual Edition of the format. This calendar of upcoming events seems to be doubly important now that there are many companies operating in the region and trying to secure a larger share of the market.
For one, 888AFRICA, the joint venture backed by 888 Holdings, has announced the acquisition of BetLion on Monday, and this is the second time that the company has expanded rapidly in Africa following its debut in 2022. For this reason and more, events such as SBWA+ 2023 have a particularly important bearing on local operations and the opportunity to realize the full potential of the African iGaming and sports betting industries.
