The globally-recognized gaming, sports betting and interactive entertainment group, Entain, announced a senior-level leadership change. The company unveiled Monday that its current Chief Governance Officer, Robert Hoskin, will be stepping down from his role.
Judging by a statement released by the company, Hoskin will leave Entain's Board, effective from June 30, 2023. Still, the company explained that he will remain in the role of Chief Governance Office through August 31, 2023. Overall, Hoskin was a part of Entain for nearly 20 years.
Initially, he joined the company back in 2005. At the time, he served as Corporate Secretary and Group Director of Legal, Regulatory and Secretariat. Back in October 2020, Hoskin was promoted to the role of Chief Governance Officer, while in 2021, he became a part of Entain's Board.
According to the statement released by the company, it has taken a "decision to restructure certain responsibilities, in particular Regulatory Affairs given the strategic importance of regulation and our focus exclusively on regulated or regulating markets." Given that Hoskin will be stepping down, Entain confirmed that Simon Zinger, the company's General Counsel, will take over his other responsibilities.
Hoskin commented on the topic and acknowledged that Entain has seen significant growth recently. Moreover, he explained that the company has gone through a transformative period and now holds a leadership position as a best-in-class operator offering responsible entertainment.
Additionally, Hoskin confirmed that Entain has a "clear commitment to sustainability in all its forms." Finally, he said: "I am truly honored to have had the opportunity of playing a part in that extraordinary journey, and wish everyone at Entain all the best for the future."
Barry Gibson, Entain's Chair also commented on the topic. He said: "When I became Chairman, my colleagues and I had a singular focus on making the business sustainable, concentrating on regulated markets but keeping the entrepreneurial drive within the business." Finally, Gibson noted: "Robert has been central to the implementation of that vision and I salute him as a great colleague."
Jette Nygaard-Andersen, Entain's CEO, spoke about the incredible support by Hoskin toward her in 2019 when she joined the company as a non-executive director. Nygaard-Andersen added: "I was therefore delighted that he agreed to remain in his role after my appointment as CEO, and I have benefitted hugely from his wisdom and counsel."
The CEO outlined that Hoskin played a pivotal role in the growth and success the company has seen in recent years. Finally, Nygaard-Andersen thanked Hoskin for his leadership and dedication.
