DraftKings has made a new announcement regarding the company’s commitment to responsible gambling and consumer protection, with the sports betting and gaming giant appointing its first Chief Responsible Gaming Officer, Lori Kalani.
Kalani will take a central role in the company’s ongoing efforts of trying to protect players and ensure their safety throughout the products offered by the company, and its various opportunities. A seasoned consumer protection law specialist and having worked with shareholders, regulators, and attorney generals, Kalani is an ideal candidate for the job and an important addition to the company’s overall executive pecking order.
Kalani will further collaborate with DraftKings’ Compliance team to ensure that best-in-class consumer protection measures and practices are upheld at any time. She will report directly to the company’s boss, Jason Robins. Commenting on her appointment, Robins had this to add:
"Responsible gaming is one of our top priorities and it is a core part of our mission to build games that our customers can enjoy responsibly. In this leadership role, Lori will further advance our responsible gaming initiatives and uphold our commitment to setting new industry standards."
Kalani was similarly excited to be joining as part of the team and have the opportunity to help the brand strengthen its presence in responsible gambling. The new RG executive said that she has long admired DraftKings for the company’s unmatched ability to utilize employee training, evidence-based approach, and technology, among other things, to ensure that it players are protected and in control of their gambling habits.
"I am eager to partner with colleagues, regulators, industry leaders, and community advocates to further demonstrate DraftKings’ commitment to responsible gaming and promote a healthy gaming environment for all customers," Kalani added.
Kalani herself has worked as a partner at the respected law firm Cozen O’Connor and has also co-chaired State Attorneys General practice. Prior to Kalani’s appointment at DraftKings, the company had already undertaken and shown a strong commitment to making sure that consumers are protected.
DraftKings teamed up with Kindbridge Behavioral Health in March to help protect at-risk and problem gamblers who need professional help to get better.
In addition, DraftKings also introduced another similar initiative last month, specifically the My Stat Sheet solution, that seeks to better inform consumers about their gambling habits and overall behavior while gambling with the company’s multi-faceted platform.
