  • A new Casino Guru Forum poll has revealed how players respond to losing streaks
  • Notably, the majority of players have chosen to adapt and adjust in a de-escalatory manner, suggesting awareness on their part
  • While other players may not mind losing streaks, they do not seem to be escalating the issue further by pushing their wagers higher, for example

Losing streaks are part of the ordinary iGaming experience, yet how a player responds to them may be the difference between losing more money or taking a more cautious approach.

Players run into losing streaks, but they adjust accordingly

While iGaming is based on pure chance, one of the most popular gambler’s fallacies is loss chasing, the idea that by betting more, you can earn back what you have lost.

Casino Guru has leveraged its vast Forum user base to find out more about how ordinary casino players respond to losing streaks, and what they tend to do when they run into one.

With 345 votes cast, Casino Guru now has the final results. According to the poll’s respondents, most players, 31.6% (109 votes), tend to take a break, which is also something Casino Guru advises.

A considerable 22.9% (79 votes) tend to switch the game they are playing, while another 18.8% (65 votes) take a more pragmatic approach by lowering their bets but continuing to play.

Another 13.9% (48 votes) of respondents argue that losing streaks do not affect them and they continue playing, with another 12.8% (44 votes) saying that a losing streak is not indefinite and will end eventually.

Interestingly, losing streaks do have an impact on how players approach a game. The largest cohort of players prefer to take a break, as noted, while another 41.7% adjust to the situation, either lowering their bets or switching games.

The poll suggests that 73% of players tend to adapt or regulate their behaviour. The behaviour change is usually positive and not escalatory, suggesting that players have a good understanding of how giving in to gambler’s fallacies could negatively impact their sessions.
