There is plenty that still must be worked out between now and the NFL’s trade deadline in two weeks. Questions that need answering and teams that need direction.

But there are also some constants and some known commodities and the market for teams that are absolutely in the mode to sell has become clear. Make no mistake, more could join them, and some, like the Eagles, are in more complicated territory with league sources indicating they want to move contracts like Landon Dickerson but will also add veteran talent that could help them now.

It’s not nearly as tricky for other teams. And it’s not nearly as taboo as it used to be for owners to be so brazen about shedding salary and playing for the future and subjecting fans to an even weaker product in the winter months of the season. And the selling has already begun in earnest, and we anticipate at least 8-10 more significant transactions between now and the Tuesday after Week 9, based on conversations with motivated executives around the league.

As things stand now, here are the sellers:

Chargers: Winless coming out of a bye, a trade of Justin Herbert would qualify as a surprise, but that’s about it. Even that wouldn’t be a total shocker. Their roster is being lusted after – Khalil Mack, multiple receivers. "I bet they trade the safety," offered an advance scout who knows that franchise quite well about All-Pro defender Derwin James.

Cardinals: The clock is ticking to start seeing what Carson Beck can do at QB. They want to move a veteran there. They already traded a WR. They will probably trade a RB. On defense, if James draws a boffo return, could that hasten Budda Baker leaving Arizona? Would be a shock to see Josh Sweat still rushing the passer there after the deadline.

Dolphins: They sold off Jaylen Waddle before the season and couldn’t wait to get out from under Tua Tagovailoa’s deal, and it’s always been all about accumulating as many draft picks for 2027 as possible. Zach Sieler is a name we first reported to be on the move weeks ago, and it’s picking up steam in the media. It’s great he wants to stay in Miami, but he has value. Tackle Austin Jackson has suitors, too. "He might be an upgrade for the Eagles," one personnel exec suggested to me. Miami is listening on a lot.

Titans: Tony Pollard having a hat trick of rushing touchdowns comes at just the right time. Would they trade kicker Joey Slye in a great season? Heck yeah, as a pending free agent. "They’ll make at least a couple of moves," one GM posited to me.

Jets: Doesn’t sound like they are trying to peddle former first-round WR Garrett Wilson, and this wouldn’t be a low-level trade like what Arizona got for recent first-round WR Marvin Harrison, Jr. It would take quality draft pick compensation, but one top exec whose team is looking for a pass catcher thinks Wilson can be had.

Commanders: A wave of injuries eliminated some very intriguing names from the market, but they have some role players, and solid vets who could improve depth on contending teams. They are pretty open for business as we hear it.

Saints: Ownership is fuming down there, they are heading into a bye after a long flight home from London, and while most of their veteran players are on contracts that are too pricey to fetch much, we expect moves. Cam Jordan just re-signed there before the season expecting to end his career there … but he has some people interested. Alvin Kamara has been slightly better this season, I guess.
