No break for $167m Kentucky Powerball winner

After assaulting a police officer during a celebratory visit to Florida in the wake of his Powerball win, and being shown leniency by the courts, the man - James Farthing, was reportedly briefly back in jail on March 28, according to Live 5 WCSC and other media reports.

Farthing was arrested on Saturday, the outlet reported, on burglary and marijuana possession charges.

According to the media report, Farthing was reported to have broken into an unspecified victim’s home and burglarizedit, allegedly making away with $12,000 in cash, as per the victim’s testimony.

Farthing allegedly burst through the front door and then proceeded to burglarize the contents of the house. He was caught by the victim’s security cameras and later by police at a local business after officers first located his car, which had been abandoned by Farthing.

Farthing was released on a bond paid by his mother on Sunday and appeared in court on Monday, pleading "not guilty." He is back in court on April 27. This is not the first time Farthing has had an encounter with the law since he won the life-altering amount of money.

He was arrested in Florida on charges of battery and resisting an officer - he pled guilty in this instance, but has been shown leniency by the court. Farthing also has active cases for a hit-and-run in Fayette County and an intimidation charge in Scott County, Kentucky.
