An exceptionally lucky woman won a life-changing jackpot, but when she was contacted with the good news, she thought she was being scammed.
That’s the story of a Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, woman, who won the top prize from a recent Oz Lotto draw.
The fortunate player, living in Eastwood, one of Sydney’s suburbs, entered the Oz Lotto drawing on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Her winning 2-game System 8 Quick Pick entry was purchased at Eastwood Centre Newsagency, Eastwood Centre, Shop 17 at 160 Rowe Street in Eastwood.
Oz Lotto draw 1678 saw winning numbers 5, 30, 36, 39, 25, 19 and 2, along with supplementary numbers 43, 13 and 40 drawn.
Interestingly, the recent lottery drawing produced a single division one winning entry, the one held by the Eastwood woman.
As a result, she won the game’s top prize for a life-changing AU$15m ($10.8m) jackpot.
Besides the top prize, the incredibly lucky player scored division 3 seven times, growing her prize to a sweet AU$15,028,514.15 ($10.8m).
Considering that there was a single division one winning entry, the lucky Sydney resident is entitled to the entire life-changing multi-million-dollar prize.
Contacted by The Lott with the good news, the fortunate player initially thought that she was being lied to.
"I actually blocked your number this morning because I thought it was fake," the woman explained, who changed her mind after the initial call.
The lucky player added that she still can’t believe the big fortune that has come her way, saying that she feels lucky and shocked.
"I’ve been playing my whole life! Now I can buy a house. It’s amazing," the fortunate winner exclaimed.
The winner was accompanied by her daughter, which made the life-changing announcement even more exciting.
The fortunate woman’s daughter joked, saying that she will make sure her mom gets home as she looks a "bit dizzy."
Finally, the winner’s daughter said that her mother has been working hard her entire life, and she deserves the life-changing prize.
