Seasoned Maryland lottery player wins life-changing $100K jackpot

A seasoned lottery player in Maryland, who just happened to stop for groceries at a deli, was pleasantly surprised by a six-figure jackpot.

The Maryland Lottery confirmed the win on Wednesday, but the identity of the fortunate player wasn't publicly disclosed.

The woman has been playing the lottery for a decade

Instead, the lucky Anne Arundel County woman chose the alias "Ms. Anonymous."

The player from Odenton admitted that she visited a local deli called Lucky’s Deli & Market, at 1101 Odenton Road in Anne Arundel County.

As she checked a FAST Play Grand Progressive ticket, the woman realized that she had won big. However, initially the lucky player wasn't sure what the size of the prize was.

Then, a worker at the deli who scanned the ticket told the lucky woman that she had just won FAST PLAY Grand Progressive's jackpot for a win of $104,438.

The woman needed some time to process this information and in an interview for a Lottery official admitted that she rushed back to her car.

In her car, together with her adult son, the lucky woman celebrated the win before driving off home.

Similar to other jackpot winners, "Ms. Anonymous" has kept the win to herself and hasn't publicly disclosed the big fortune that came her way.

Speaking to Lottery officials, the fortunate woman admitted that she has been playing different games for the last 10 years.

The games she liked included Pick 3, Pick 4, Pick 5, as well as Multi-Match and FAST PLAY.

While the Anne Arundel County resident has previously won prizes in the thousands of dollars, nothing has come closer to her most-recent jackpot win.

Asked if she plans to continue playing, the lucky woman said: "Yes, I’ll play again. In fact, I plan on buying a few more tickets on my way home tonight."

The lucky lottery player was also asked about her plans in light of the recent jackpot win.

"Ms. Anonymous" admitted that she has quite a few things in mind, saying that she plans to set money aside for an investment, save some for her children's future and even support a nonprofit organization.

Maryland Lottery's FAST PLAY games offer a chance for life-changing prizes

FAST PLAY Grand Progressive is one of a range of fast-play games offered by the Maryland Lottery.

The game costs $10, offers odds of winning any prize of 1 in 3.73 and operates in a similar fashion to scratch-off games, only that no scratch-off is needed.

The FAST PLAY Grand Progressive game has a jackpot that starts at $100,000 and continues to grow with each ticket until a lucky player wins it.

At the launch of the game back in April last year, there were a total of 28 jackpots. Out of that total, now, 25 remain in play.
