Seasoned lottery player in Michigan wins $250K from KENO

One seasoned lottery player was surprised by a sweet six-figure prize after trying $1 instant ticket game.

On Thursday, the Michigan Lottery confirmed that one Gratiot County man scored the top prize from its popular game, KENO!, for a sweet six-figure payout.

Not much is known about the fortunate man who decided to remain anonymous.

Per the Lottery's announcement, the 60-year-old man purchased his winning ticket from the Meijer gas station at 7420 North Alger Road in Alma.

While confirmation about the win came on Thursday, the winner scored the top prize from KENO! for a $250,000 payout on the game's November 4, 2025, drawing.

To win the top prize, the incredibly fortunate 60-year-old man matched 10 out of the game's 22 numbers, 04-07-10-11-14-21-52-60-65-72.

In an interview with an official from the Michigan Lottery, the winner admitted that he frequently plays lottery games.

"I have been playing KENO! every day for years, but this specific set of numbers I started playing about six months ago," the lucky man said.

The Gratiot County man added: "I checked my ticket by scanning it at a lucky spot scanner and got a message to file a claim, which I’d never seen before. My wife looked up the winning numbers, which is when I found out I’d won $250,000."

With the thought that he had just won $250,000 sinking in, the 60-year-old man admitted this is a "wild feeling" but at the same time a "huge blessing."

The winner plans to use his winnings to buy a new car and pay some bills, he said when claiming the prize at Michigan Lottery headquarters earlier this week.

Top prize of $250,000 awaits KENO! players

The popular instant draw game, KENO!, is available to Michigan players only.

The cost per play is $1.00 and the game is available only via retail lottery outlets.

KENO! drawings take place daily at 7:29 PM and to enter the current draw, players need to purchase their tickets by 7:08 PM daily. Sales for the next day draw resume at 7:10 PM daily.

The popular game grants players a chance to win a free instant ticket or a prize of up to $250,000.

The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 19, while the odds of winning the top $250,000 from KENO! are 1 in 2,546,203.
