  • One fortunate woman who thought buying the wrong type of ticket would be lucky scored a jackpot from Weekday Windfall
  • The woman holds one out of two division one winning entries, each entitled to AU$1m
  • The winner accidentally bought the 3 Play ticket but decided it would bring her luck, and it did

One woman from Sydney, Australia, was watching cricket in bed and discovered that she won a life-changing million-dollar prize.

That's the case for a Liverpool resident, who holds one out of a total of two division one winning prizes in Weekday Windfall's Monday drawing.

Monday's Weekday Windfall produces two winning entries

The fortunate winner purchased her three-game marked System 8 entry from Freechoice Tobacconist, Shop 8, Chipping Norton Market Plaza, 20 Earnest Avenue, Chipping Norton.

The winner entered the Weekday Windfall draw 4647 on Monday, January 5, 2026.

That particular draw saw winning numbers 25, 41, 38, 29, 22 and 6 and supplementary numbers 5 and 30 drawn, a statement released by The Lott confirms.

Weekday Windfall's draw 4647 produced two division one winning entries across Australia, and both came from New South Wales.

According to The Lott, division one winning entries for the financial year so far have hit 227.

Accidentally, the woman purchased 3 Play ticket

The fortunate Liverpool woman was watching cricket in bed when she remembered she saw Weekday Windfall produce two winning entries. This is when she decided to check her ticket and was surprised to see that she held one of the winning entries for a sweet AU$1m ($673,000).

"I checked off the numbers, and I was going ’one more, one more, one more’. I realized I had them all – and even the supplementary numbers too! I just went ‘Oh my god!’," the lucky Sydney resident said.

Interestingly, the woman said she has been playing the lottery for four decades.

Recalling the moment she purchased the ticket, the winner said she bought the "wrong" type.

"When I bought the ticket, I only wanted to get a ticket for Monday night’s draw, but I accidentally got the 3 Play ticket, which runs all week. The clerk asked if I wanted to cancel the ticket, but I said ‘No, I’ll keep it, it might be lucky!’. It sure was," the woman explained.

With the thought of the lottery windfall sinking in, the lottery player admitted that she will use the winnings for retirement, acknowledging that the jackpot comes at the perfect time.
