One fortunate retiree who believes in good karma is looking forward to making home improvements after winning a once-in-a-lifetime prize.
That’s the story of a Bendigo, Victoria, Australia man, who scored the top prize from Weekday Windfall.
The winner purchased his 18-game QuickPick entry via The Lott’s official website.
Entering the Weekday Windfall draw 4702 on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the player emerged as the division one prize winner.
The drawing in question saw winning numbers 42, 14, 15, 11, 32 and 5, along with supplementary numbers 7 and 29 drawn.
The lucky Bendigo retiree’s winning entry marked the single division winning entry from Weekday Windfall’s latest drawing.
As a result, he is looking forward to the entire AU$1m ($722,300) top prize.
According to data from The Lott, the Central Highlands and Goldfields region has so far enjoyed two major lottery prizes for the year, surpassing AU$1.11m.
On Thursday morning, the victorious Victorian was contacted by an official from The Lott.
Jokingly, the winner asked: "Are you calling me to tell me I’ve won 50 bucks?"
When he heard the news that he scored much more, the winner responded that it felt amazing, adding that he is really happy and scoring such a life-changing prize is unbelievable.
The retiree, whose name wasn’t publicly disclosed, admitted that he has been playing the lottery for years, although he has never won a prize of such size.
Moreover, the fortunate man admitted that he has lived a really good life and often helped others.
"I’ve always believed that you have to be nice to others because you only have one life! Maybe it’s good karma," he exclaimed.
The winner then said that he feels happy to have come across this life-changing win and was able to beat the odds, something which he described as "unbelievable."
"I thankfully own my home outright, but I’ve been trying to complete home renovations for ages now," the victorious Bendigo retiree said.
Thanks to the life-changing prize, he explained that he will now complete the planned home improvements.
Finally, the man said that he would call his sibling to give the good news and thanked the lottery once again.
