Regular Fantasy 5 player in Michigan wins $476K jackpot

A lottery player in Michigan is looking forward to his retirement with a nice cash bonus after scoring a life-enhancing jackpot.

On Monday, the Michigan Lottery confirmed that a Kent County man scored the top prize from its popular game, Fantasy 5, for a $476,728 payday.

Fantasy 5 makes Kent County man rich

The identity of the fortunate player wasn't publicly revealed as per his request. However, what's known is that the 63-year-old player purchased his winning ticket from the Alpine E-Z Mart at 3623 Alpine Avenue Northwest in Comstock Park.

To win the top prize from Fantasy 5's drawing on September 18, 2025, the fortunate man matched all winning numbers, 02, 21, 29, 36 and 38.

The cost per play for Fantasy 5 is $1 and an extra $1 unlocks the game's EZmatch option, which grants players a chance to instantly win up to $500.

Lottery players who pay an additional $1 per play can tap into Fantasy 5's Double Play option, giving them a second chance to win up to $110,000 from the game's nightly Double Play drawing.

To win a prize from the game's regular nightly drawing or Double Play drawing, players need to select five numbers between one and 39.

If they match their selection with the drawn numbers, they score a jackpot, which starts at $100,000.

"This prize is going to be a nice financial cushion during retirement"

Only recently, the lucky Kent County man visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his big win.

Asked about his plans for the newfound fortune, the man admitted that he will likely put the winnings into savings for his retirement.

"I’m not ready to retire yet, but when I am in a few years, this prize is going to be a nice financial cushion during retirement," he said.

Recalling the day he purchased his winning ticket, the 63-year-old man pointed out: "I play Fantasy 5 regularly, and usually buy one ticket, but I bought a few extra tickets for this drawing since the jackpot was so high."

As always, following the Fantasy 5 drawing, the man would check the winning numbers online and see if the jackpot is won and if it is, where.

The day after the game drawing he purchased tickets for, the lucky winner saw that the jackpot-winning ticket was bought at the same store where he bought his tickets.

"I got my tickets out of my car to check them and was blown away when I saw I was the winner," the lucky winner said.
