Pair arrested after leaving children unattended and gambling at Florida casino

A couple found themselves in trouble after allegedly leaving their children inside a car and gambling at a casino.

The criminal case is from Broward County, Florida, where a couple was arrested for leaving their children unattended and playing at the Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood.

Casino security finds three children left inside a car

As announced by the local media outlet, 6 South Florida, law enforcement detained a 32-year-old female and a 42-year-old male on Sunday.

The woman, who is the biological mother of the three children, was with the stepfather of the kids.

The pair had been partners for approximately three years and had been living together.

On Sunday, three children left unattended in a Jeep were found by casino security.

The Seminole Classic Casino security found thekids unresponsivein the car that wasn’t running.

Not unexpectedly, police were contacted and an investigation was initiated to identify who the parents of the children are.

In the meantime, the three children, including one-year-old, were extracted from the car and have gone through a medical examination.

Although the children were in good health, they were left in the car with the windows shut, without food, water or a phone to contact their parents.

Equally concerning, the vehicle was turned off, and no fresh air was getting inside the cabin.

The couple faces charges, mother's bond was denied

With the help of surveillance footage, police identified the children’s parents.

Both the 32-year-old woman and the 42-year-old man were detained. Investigating the case, police questioned the couple.

The man claimed that he walked inside the casino to use the restroom and left the car shut off with his partner and the children inside.

The 32-year-old mother then went inside the casino to look for her partner and get the keys back.

The woman claimed that she spent approximately 20 minutes inside the casino, leaving the children unattended.

However, further investigation and CCTV footage showed the 42-year-old man first entering the casino and starting to gamble.

The woman then entered the premises too and was seen sitting at a slot machine near her partner.

Overall, the children were left unattended for about an hour before casino security and police stepped in.

Appearing in court on Monday, a judge denied the 32-year-old woman’s bond, while setting a $22,500 bond for the 42-year-old stepfather.

The children were released with friends of the mother while the pair are facing charges for leaving children unattended in a motor vehicle as well as child neglect.
