A woman who recently won a six-figure lottery prize is looking forward to starting her own business.
That’s the story of one Rowan County woman who scored one of the top prizes from the North Carolina Education Lottery’s $100,000 Cash Payday game.
The fortunate player decided to give the $30 ticket a try. She purchased her ticket at the Mid-Town Dixie Express Fuel on West Salisbury Street in Asheboro.
Interestingly, the $30 scratch-off ticket brought her a sweet $100,000 top prize.
The odds of winning the top prize from the $100,000 Cash Payday are 1 in 76,752.38.
After realizing that she had won the game’s top prize, the Salisbury woman immediately called her mom.
"I called my mom freaking out. She said, ‘What’s wrong,’ and I said, ‘Nothing but please come here’," the winner said in an interview for the Lottery.
Recalling the life-changing moment, the fortunate player said: "My eyes like lit up when I saw it. It’s so surreal."
Visiting the North Carolina Education Lottery, the lucky woman claimed her prize and, after the applicable state and federal taxes, saw her bank account increase by $72,018.
When asked about her plans for her newfound fortune, the fortunate player said she plans to open her own hair salon.
Each $100,000 Cash Payday ticket costs $30 and offers players a chance to win a prize between $30 and $100,000.
The scratch-off ticket debuted in March with a total of 80 top prizes of $100,000 each and by now, 53 of those remain in play.
A tier-two prize awards $30,000 and there are seven such prizes in play, while a tier-three prize awards $3,000 and there are 105 of those prizes up for grabs.
Within the lower prize tiers, a range of other prizes between $500 and $30 are still up for grabs.
The overall odds of winning any prize from the $100,000 Cash Payday scratch-off are 1 in 3.49.
