Earlier this week, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office in Fort Payne, Alabama, announced the completion of a lengthy investigation.
This investigation saw law enforcement raid a Fyffe residence, arresting more than a dozen people who gambled illegally and possessed a large quantity of drugs.
Executing a search warrant, law enforcement entered a residence on Hammonds Road in Fyffe.
On site, police found more than a dozen individuals who engaged in illegal gambling.
In a room, described by law enforcement as the "main gambling area," they found cigarettes, marijuana, as well as baggies with marijuana and methamphetamine pipes.
Throughout the search of the premises, police found and seized 101 grams of methamphetamine, fentanyl and marijuana.
Various other drug paraphernalia items were also found and seized.
The police operation took place on Monday, October 6, 2025, and according to the Sheriff's Office, a total of 16 individuals, between the ages of 29 and 73, were detained.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden spoke about the latest police operation, Casino Guru learned from a press release.
"Fentanyl and methamphetamine continue to be two of the deadliest threats facing our communities today," he said.
Moreover, Welden pointed out: "These poisons are destroying families, fueling violence, and claiming lives at an alarming rate. Every gram we seize is a potential life saved."
Per the announcement of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, the recent police operation was completed by the DeKalb County Special Response Team.
One person, a 48-year-old Valley Head resident, suspected of holding a leadership role, was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree.
According to the Sheriff's Office, other agencies had outstanding warrants for the same person.
The other 15 people were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree.
While an investigation into unlawful gambling is ongoing, the suspects are yet to face gambling-related charges.
It is unclear whether or not police seized gambling devices or cash, during the recent raid.
