A lottery player from Miami, Florida, recently scored a multi-million-dollar prize from a popular scratch-off game.
On Monday, the Florida Lottery confirmed that Virginia Alvarez, a 69-year-old woman from Miami, claimed one of the remaining top prizes from 100X The Cash scratch-off game.
The fortunate woman decided to try her luck with the $10 scratch-off game after purchasing a ticket at Government Discount on 3709 Northwest 7th Street in Miami.
To the surprise of Alvarez, she managed to score one of the game's top prizes for a mouth-watering $2m payday.
The odds of winning the top prize from 100X The Cash scratch-off game are 1 in 3,313,314. Still, it seems like this was the lottery player's lucky day, considering that she won one out of a total of three top prizes that were in play.
The Florida Lottery confirmed in a press release that Alvarez recently visited its headquarters to claim the big win.
The lucky 69-year-old woman did not reveal if she had any plans about the unexpected windfall.
She chose the option to receive a one-time lump cash sum and collected a total of $1,280,000.
As is usual with top prizes, the retailer that sold the winning ticket with the top prize also benefitted from a bonus.
In total, Government Discount received a $4,000 bonus from the Florida Lottery for selling the winning lottery ticket.
The Florida Lottery's 100X The Cash scratch-off ticket costs $10 per play.
Each ticket offers overall odds of winning any prize of 1 in 3.49.
Lottery players have a chance to win prizes between $10 and a top prize of $2m.
After the recently won top prize, now only two prizes of $2m each remain in play.
On the other hand, the 100X The Cash scratch-off also offers players a chance to win a tier-two prize of $100,000.
While at the launch of the game, there were a total of 30 prizes of $100,000 each, now, 11 remain in play.
The odds of winning $100,000 from the popular scratch-off games are 1 in 1,104,438.
There are plenty of lower-tier prizes up for grabs from the popular game, including $10,000, $5,000 and $1,000, among others.
