A man who recently moved to Advance in Davie County, North Carolina, can now celebrate after hitting a six-figure jackpot.
The lucky player's name is Daniel Brose, and he won the grand prize from the North Carolina Education Lottery's Carolina Cash 5 game on the first try.
The man bought a ticket for the game's draw on Wednesday last week and hit the $100,000 grand prize.
This was the first time he played Carolina Cash 5 since his arrival in North Carolina in less than a month.
On Monday this week, the lucky winner visited the Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
When asked what he plans to do with the money from the win, Brose said that he will use a part of it to buy things that he will need for his house, considering that he recently just moved in.
"It's coming at a good time for us," said the lucky lottery player.
After the applicable state and federal tax, Brose's bank account inflated with a sum that was close to $72,000.
The lucky winner said that he used to play games similar to Carolina Cash 5 when he was back in Pennsylvania and Florida.
However, Brose said that he hadn't won a grand prize previously, so the latest win was his first major payday.
The lucky player joked around and said: "I guess North Carolina is lucky."
According to the Lottery, Brose purchased his winning ticket from Food Lion on US 158 in Advance.
Popular as a rolling jackpot game, Carolina Cash 5 grants players a chance to win prizes every night of the week.
The cost per game is $1 and the jackpot of the game starts at $100,000 and continues to grow until a player collects it.
An extra $1 adds the Double Play option to the Cash 5 game which enables customers to enter their numbers into a second drawing for more prizes.
The odds of winning the jackpot from Cash 5 are 1 in 962,598.
The odds of matching two numbers to secure a prize of $1 are 1 in 11.4, while the overall odds from the popular game are 1 in 10.5.
To participate in the same-day drawing, players need to buy retail tickets by 10:59 PM on the same day.
Online ticket sales for same-day draws are open until 10:58 PM on the same day.
