A 69-year-old man, who tried his luck with a raffle game, was surprised by a multi-million-dollar prize.
On Thursday, the Michigan Lottery confirmed that one Hillsdale County man, who decided to remain anonymous, scored the top prize from its Super Raffle game for a whopping $6m.
The lucky man purchased his winning ticket from B&T Party Store at 12823 East Chicago Road in Somerset Center, which is approximately 20 miles south of Jackson.
To the man's surprise and shock, his number 130129 was picked as the winner in the Michigan Lottery's Super Raffle game, enabling him to take down the top prize.
Besides the $6m top prize, the Super Raffle game offered two prizes of $1m each, a dozen prizes of $100,000, as well as more than 18,000 prizes within lower prize tiers.
This week, the fortunate 69-year-old man visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his big win.
Instead of receiving the full $6m prize via annuity payments, the lucky man agreed to receive a one-time lump sum of approximately $4.1m.
Speaking to an official from the Lottery, the Hillsdale County man was excited about the life-changing win.
"I really liked the odds of the Super Raffle game, so I bought a ticket here and there," the fortunate man admitted.
Moreover, he explained that the day after the Super Raffle drawing, he checked his ticket via the Michigan Lottery's official website and was shocked to realize he won the $6m top prize.
"I called my wife over to the computer to show her the results and I think she stopped breathing for a minute when she found out how much we won," the incredibly lucky man added.
As it turns out, the 69-year-old man already has plans for his newfound fortune.
The winner said that he will share the lottery prize with his children and save what's left.
