Illinois friends strike it rich with $750K lottery jackpot

Two Illinois lottery friends probably can’t believe their luck after the pair won a six-figure jackpot off the Lucky Day Lotto game. While the friends preferred to stay anonymous and be identified only by their chosen moniker, "Pirate Girls," the lottery was able to release even more details.

The pair purchased the ticket at Squire Liquor & Tobacco, 1929 Plum Grove Rd., in Palatine. The winners were made aware of the lucky turn of events and were still inside the shop when realization dawned that they had won.

"I was still in the store when I realized we had won - I was so excited," one of the two friends told the lottery. They won with the numbers 17, 22, 25, 31, and 40, and the win actually occurred over two months ago - on March 20, but was only publicized now.

"At first, I thought it was only $700, until my friend pointed out it was actually the jackpot," one of the winners said. "We feel incredibly blessed by this windfall," they attested.

The winners even said that upon purchasing the ticket, they had joked with the cashier that they needed a "winning ticket," and they got one. The venue that sold the ticket should also be happy about this one, as it is also getting a $7,500 bonus for selling the right ticket.

Even bigger jackpots have dropped in Illinois recently

The announcement about this fresh win comes less than a week after the victory of one DuPage County resident who became an instant millionaire from the Millionaire Club game.

The DuPage County winner also chose to stay anonymous, but the lottery did share a few details about them as well - including that they spent $50 on the winning ticket at a local Mobil Gas station.

"I just celebrated my birthday a few weeks ago, so this win feels like the perfect gift. It’s especially exciting since I bought the ticket at a store I visit regularly," the winner said.
