A $25m ticket has been claimed in Massachusetts, the lottery confirmed. The ticket, which was purchased at a Cumberland Farms gas station, was claimed last Thursday, with the winner opting for the lump sum amount.
The win is the first instance of the $50 scratch ticket game, "$25,000,000 Mega Money," allocating the top prize - and the largest so far this year in the state, with the winner named as the Open Door Trust of Boston.
Not much additional information has been released about the win. The winner will take home the $16,250,000 prize after paying all due taxes, with the venue that sold the ticket located on Montague City Road in Turner Fallsfetching a neat $50,000 bonus as well. Trustee Renat Lumpau accepted the reward on behalf of the trust.
There are still two more awards to go as part of the Mega Money game, meaning that other state residents or, indeed, trusts, have the opportunity to claim one of those.
