One lucky Keno player from Glengowrie, Australia, is looking forward to seeing better thanks to laser eye surgery after scoring a life-changing win.
On Wednesday, The Lott announced that an Adelaide resident won the Keno Spot 8 jackpot from a recent drawing for a hefty AU$200,000 payday.
The fortunate winner purchased his ticket at Morphett Arms Hotel on 138 Morphett Road in Glengowrie.
As it turns out, the Keno player had visited the retail outlet with his friends but left before realizing that he had won the jackpot.
Then, one of his friends contacted him to tell him that he won the Keno Spot 8 jackpot.
"I didn’t believe it. I had already left the venue and one of my friends rang me. He told me that I had won the jackpot prize, and I told him that he was talking rubbish," the fortunate winner admitted.
Considering the winner's doubts, his friend asked the store manager to confirm the win.
Hearing that confirmation, the fortunate winner ordered Uber and went back to the retail venue.
Last year, Keno wins across South Australia surpassed 5.6m and were an estimated AU$130m.
Notably, more than AU$6.49m in wins came from Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 in South Australia alone.
The Adelaide resident admitted to being a frequent Keno player and said that he had even won AU$32,000 before.
"I couldn’t believe it. It’s certainly not something you expect to happen to you," the man said.
The incredibly lucky Keno player hit the jackpot on draw 876 from Friday, May 23, 2025.
Not unexpectedly, an official from The Lott asked him if he had any plans regarding the unexpected windfall.
The lucky winner said: "The first thing I'll be doing is getting laser eye surgery. I won't have to wear glasses anymore, and I'll see better for work."
Finally, he thanked the lottery and said that it feels great to win such a life-changing prize.
