A fortunate lottery player nearly gave his winning ticket to a friend.
That's the story of a Howrah, Tasmania, Australia, man, who scored one of the top prizes from the Live the Life ticket.
The incredibly lucky man was interviewed by an official from The Lott and revealed that he usually doesn't purchase scratch-off tickets.
The Apple Isle resident revealed that he recently won AU$5 from a lottery ticket and when the cashier was just about to pay out his winnings, he decided to try his luck with a scratch-off game.
The lucky man picked the Live the Life ticket and was just walking along the beach when he decided to scratch it off.
Recalling the moment of the big win, the fortunate player explained that the prize came up on the first line, leaving him gobsmacked.
The AU$5 scratch-off ultimately brought the Howrah man a sweet AU$10,000prize per month for the next two years for a total payday of AU$240,000.
Interestingly, the winner, who beat the odds of 1 in 750,000 to win the top prize from Live the Life, admitted that he nearly gave away his ticket.
"Funnily enough, I nearly gifted it to a friend! No, seriously, I almost gave it away. I’m sure this friend would’ve given me half but isn’t that crazy," the fortunate man explained.
Moreover, he added: "We’re thrilled to say the least! Thank you so much and now we can use it for upcoming travels!"
Each Live the Life ticket costs AU$5 and it grants players a chance to win a prize between AU$5 and a top prize of AU$10,000 per month for 24 months.
Besides the top prize, the popular scratch-off ticket offers a tier-two prize of AU$5,000 at odds of 1 in 1,000,000.
On the other hand, a tier-three prize from Live the Life awards AU$1,000 and the odds of winning such a prize are 1 in 600,000.
Within the lower prize tiers, the scratch-its ticket offers a range of prizes between AU$500 and AU$5.
Lottery players across Australia are advised to sign the back of their winning tickets with their name, address, phone and postcode.
