Vixio, a leading provider of regulatory intelligence and guidance, has issued a new report conducted in collaboration with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and aims to lead to a better understanding of whether state gambling laws are actually aligned with the latter’s Internet Responsible Gambling Standards or IRGS, Casino Guru News learned in an email press release.

NCPG and Vixio produce a groundbreaking report to synch IRGS standards

The report takes a closer look at all applicable laws, regulations and standards in individual US states that currently support legal mobile sports betting and tries to gauge how closely this latticework of legislation corresponds to the outlined best practices and recommendations as per the IRGS.

NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte has welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with Vixio Regulatory Intelligence and provide what he described as a landmark evaluation that will help point out any good practices already adopted by states, but also underscore critical areas where more input and amendments are needed to reach a good standard of player safety, care, and protection.

"The report offers a comprehensive framework for states seeking to improve consumer safeguards and promote responsible gambling," Whyte said himself. The news was naturally welcomed by Vixio Chief Analyst James Kilsby who was similarly pleased with the report and the achievement itself.

"At Vixio Regulatory Intelligence, we are committed to providing independent, data-driven insights and research that help regulators and policymakers make informed decisions," he added and argued that the firm was very pleased to be collaborating with the NCPG to help drive positive regulatory changes.

Vixio takes a deep dive over 300 pages to analyze regulatory standards

To simplify matters, the NCPG and Vixio report uses ample visual aids. For example, the report splits its area of analysis into several core areas, such as Governance & Policy, Staff Training, Supporting Informed Decisions Making by Players, Time and Budget Management, Time-Out and Self-Exclusion, Customer Support, Marketing and Advertising, Game Play, Know Your Customer, Research, Education and Treatment.

Each of these areas is sub-divided into more pertinent areas still, and then each of the 30 states and the District of Columbia get a dot to signify that they are committed and fully committed to a certain aspect of regulating the industry and protecting customers.

The report offers a detailed state-by-state breakdown and is worth reading in its entirety, sprawling over 300 pages. Most states and regulators are likely to only take a look at the recommendations Vixio and the NCPG have offered about their particular states, but lessons abound in US States’ Online Sports Betting Regulations.
