Ukraine continues to try and stem the tide of illegal gambling in the country, as more websites have been targeting the nation without seeking the necessary license from the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries or KRAIL, the regulator.

KRIAL continues to block unlicensed gambling operators

In a decision on August 8, the regulator said that the websites 1xslot dot com, Bet2casino dot fun Betmatch2win dot com Betwinner6 dot com and kasinos-vip dot net have all been banned locally.

The regulator pointed out that the gambling sites had been operating without a license from KRAIL which is a violation of the country’s existing gambling rules. KRAIL has been particularly effective in meting out blocks, with the watchdog having blocked more than 3,000 illegal sites.

Along with ensuring that illegal gambling sites are restricted and acted against, KRAIL has also hailed another sign of improvement in the local gambling ecosystem. According to the watchdog, more people are turning to the national self-exclusion scheme designed to help players stay away from regulated gambling.

Some 557 players registered between July and August, KRAIL said, noting that so far, a total of 8,431 people have rolled into the self-exclusion program designed to protect consumers and minimize gambling-related harm.

Self-exclusion rates go up as KRAIL reminds players to be vigilant

KRAIL has reminded players to stay vigilant and not register at illegal gambling sites, as such operators usually put the player’s financial and personal data at risk and could have aggravating consequences.

Not least, KRIAL cautioned thatoffshore websites that operate without a license in the country are not obligated to protect consumers from gambling-related harm, nor do they seek to.

Ukraine notably re-regulated its gambling framework shortly before Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country. The new regulation has been hailed as a success at the time, with the country set to benefit from significant tax revenue.
