The international operator Tonybet brought poker to its platform on October 6th, seating one of the world's most enduring card games alongside its sportsbook and casino.

Tonybet launched poker in Canada on October 6th, adding the game to a platform that already spans sports betting, live casino and slots. The rollout gives players a third way to play, in the same account they already hold.

A game with history

Few games carry poker's weight of story. Born in the saloons and riverboats of the nineteenth-century Mississippi, it travelled with the frontier, picked up the flush, the draw and stud along the way, and settled into card clubs on every continent. By 1970, the World Series of Poker had given it a world stage in Las Vegas. By 2003, when an amateur with the improbably perfect name of Chris Moneymaker turned an $86 online satellite entry into a $2.5 million world title against a then-record field of 839, it had found its natural home online – and millions of new players followed him there.

Strip poker back and it is an argument between people who happen to be holding cards. No house edge to grind against, no fixed odds – just whoever reads the table best. That is what two centuries of card rooms have been unable to kill. It rewards study. It punishes ego. And it produces stories, which is why it keeps producing devotees, from kitchen-table home games to televised high-roller finals.

What's already on the table

Poker arrived on a platform with plenty of company. Tonybet's sportsbook covers 100+ sports with pre-match and live in-play markets, cashout and a Bet Builder, with deep coverage of the competitions Canadian players follow – hockey, football, basketball, baseball, MMA and esports among them. The casino runs to more than 6,000 titles – slots, live dealer tables, game shows and jackpots – from more than 1,000 providers, including Pragmatic Play, Play'n GO, BGaming and Hacksaw. All of it sits behind a single account and wallet, on desktop and mobile, with responsible gaming tools – deposit limits, session reminders, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion – built in across every market. For its most engaged customers, a VIP programme adds dedicated account managers and tailored promotions.

Poker became the newest seat at that table: a player-versus-player game alongside the sportsbook and casino, in the same account players already hold.

How long a player wants to sit decides where they sit. Cash tables take anyone who drops in and let them go whenever they choose, scheduled tournaments put a buy-in and a prize pool on the line, and Spins pack a tournament's swings into a fast, small-field sprint. It all runs on EvenBet Gaming's poker platform, which has powered more than 200 launches across 40 countries, and opens straight inside the Tonybet site, with full rules a click away on tonybet.com.

A game worth the wait

According to Kiryl Liudvikevich, Head of Product at Tonybet, the demand was never in question:

"You can't imagine iGaming in Canada without poker. Poker produced world champions, Hall of Famers, and tens of thousands of players with top results to their name. From home games to the biggest tournaments in the world. What’s been missing for our players is the ability to play poker alongside sportsbook and casino in the same account. From October, it's there."

Two centuries after the riverboats, poker deals its next hand this October – at Tonybet.com.
