The Star Entertainment selects Jessica Mellor for Gold Coast CEO

The leading Australian gambling and entertainment company, The Star Entertainment Group, announced a senior-level appointment earlier this week. The company revealed that it appointed Jessica Mellor to the role of Gold Coast CEO. The latest appointment represents a promotion as she initially joined the company back in 2019 and has held the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) since.

According to a statement released earlier this week, The Star Entertainment's latest announcement comes as a part of an "organizational restructuring that will see the creation of property-based Operation Business Units." Those units would be based in locations such as Gold Coast, Brisbane, as well as Sydney.

A property-based CEO who will report directly to Robbie Cooke, the Group's Managing Director and CEO, would be appointed for each of the Operational Business Units. In addition to the latest appointment, The Star Entertainment confirmed that it is also advancing the process of selecting CEOs for the units in Brisbane and Sydney.

Sharing her excitement, Mellor pointed out: "When I joined The Star in 2019, I was so grateful to be in a position to take on an amazing opportunity whilst also returning to my hometown." She added: "This new role takes it to another level. For me the focus has always been on delivering amazing experiences for our guests and being part of the fabric of the Gold Coast community."

Mellor spoke about recent challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic that brought the need for quick adaptation to changes. Finally, she explained: "But the Gold Coast is resilient, it’s innovative, and there is an extraordinary future ahead of our city and The Star can be such a significant contributor to that."

The Star Entertainment's Managing Director and CEO welcomed Mellor to her new role as CEO of The Star Gold Coast. "Over the past four years, through some incredibly challenging times, Jess and the Gold Coast team have delivered a world-class tourism, entertainment and gaming destination," explained Cooke.

Before joining The Star Entertainment in 2019, Mellor was a part of Aquis Entertainment Limited, a leading gaming, entertainment and leisure business in Australia. At the time, she held the role of CEO and Executive Director.

Throughout her career, Mellor was able to accumulate a wide range of skills and significant knowledge for the gaming and entertainment industry. Undoubtedly, her deep understanding of the sector and skills will help her in the new role of CEO at The Star Gold Coast.
