Spelinspektionen reintroduces gambling awareness program

Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority, announced the relaunch of a campaign that combats problem gambling among young people.

Coinciding with the start of the school year, the campaign will be visible via social media and digital channels throughout the fall.

The campaign plans to engage with young adults, who are particularly vulnerable

The initiative, led by the gambling regulator in Sweden is called "With your future at stake."

The new campaign is completed by Spelinspektionen in collaboration with the Swedish Enforcement Authority and the Public Health Agency of Sweden.

Notably, the initiative seeks to raise awareness of the risks associated with gambling and prevent indebtedness or gambling-related problems.

As noted, young people will be the primary targets of the new campaign, which will engage adults between the ages of 18 and 25.

Camilla Rosenberg, Spelinspektionen's Director General, spoke on the topic, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.

"Young adults are a group that is particularly vulnerable," she said.

Finally, Rosenberg pointed out: "Through the campaign, we want to reach them at the right time and provide them with tools to make informed decisions about their gambling."

There are several key aspects of Spelinspektionen's new campaign.

The "With your future at stake" initiative encourages young adults to set both time and money limits when gambling.

"Decide how much you can afford to gamble and how much time you want to spend gambling," the campaign reads.

Moreover, the gambling education initiative encourages young adults to avoid gambling with borrowed money.

Usually, gambling with borrowed money can result in indebtedness, the campaign warns.

Equally as important, the initiative outlines that there's a clear connection between young adults who enjoy video games and problem gambling, while also highlighting that people who may be suffering from a gambling-related problem can access help and support.

Initially, "With your future at stake" launched back in 2024, but it has now continued in 2025.

The initiative targets young adults, as starting to gamble early poses a risk of gambling problems later in life, Spelinspektionen says.

According to an estimate by the gambling watchdog, more than 31,000 young people between the ages of 18 and 25 are in debt.

This debt amounts to the mind-boggling sum of SEK 1.9bn ($201m)
