SBC North America reveals names of finalists for First Pitch

SBC North America is looking to distinguish some of the most innovative companies during its upcoming edition of the First Pitch start-up competition. This is the 3rd edition of the SBC Summit North America First Pitch which has now shortlisted five candidates as finalists and will offer the winner an exclusive prize pack of more than $55,000 worth of services to aid that company’s growth and expand its operations.

To win the First Pitch event, companies will have to provide compelling arguments before a jury as to why their product or firm stands out as the most innovative and deserving to be awarded the final prize. The First Pitch Competition is sponsored by Flatiron Gaming, and it will be hosted at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey on Wednesday, May10.

The event is part of the "Emerging tech and investment" track which takes a broader look at innovation in the gambling industry and what emerging solutions are bringing to the sector. The five finalists for the upcoming event include:

  • Scrimmage Co: A company that focuses on helping operators in the betting space retain their customers by offering rewarding gamification solutions and keeping customers engaged
  • BettorFantasy: A provider of daily fantasy sports contests across all major sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and hockey
  • Bettor Vision: A mobile app aggregator for fantasy sports and sports betting accounts that allows users to see all their betting action in one place
  • Sweeps: A sports game that builds savings instead of debt and uses FDIC-inspired prize-linked savings accounts and live entertainment to motivate people to save money
  • Inside the Pocket: The world’s first white-label B2B content aggregation platform which focuses on F2P and P2P gaming content

Commenting on the upcoming edition, Flatiron Gaming founder & CEO Ryan Faber said that his company was dedicated to teaming up with early-stage start-up companies to help them build the right infrastructure and grow.

Flatiron Gaming is a specialist that focuses on user acquisition, monetization, and retention strategies to help enhance business performance and see individual companies succeed.

Owing to this distinct company culture, Flatiron Gaming wanted to now support "the next wave of high-potential" entities in the gambling industry that can upset the status quo and usher in groundbreaking solutions.

The event itself will be hosted by The Betting Startups Podcast’s Jesse Learmonth and a total of five judges will sit on the panel:

  • Adam Krejcik, Principal Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, LLC
  • Lloyd Danzig, Managing Partner, Sharp Alpha Advisors
  • Clark Smith, Director, NJEDA
  • Melissa Blau, CEO, iGaming Capital
  • Ryan Faber, Founder & CEO, Flatiron

Commenting on this opportunity, SBC VP of Growth and Strategy Sue Schneider welcomed the opportunity to make this event happen once again. Schneider said that SBC has always put great store by innovation when it comes to sports betting and iGaming practices, and the First Pitch competition gives the opportunity to support the "brightest minds" in the industry.

Schneider argued that the First Pitch competition is not only beneficial to the winner, as the format gives the companies exposure to potential clients and investors. The competition is an opportunity to improve companies’ communication skills and expand their networks.

The winning company will gain quite a few perks, on top of the pure prize money sum. The package includes:

  • A six-month sports & emerging verticals subscription by Eilers & Krejcik Gaming (worth $25,000)
  • A promotional package from SBC Media which includes six months of advertising on SBC Americas, newsletter advertising and two featured editorials promoting the company’s business ($12,000)
  • An exclusive brand and web design package from Vegas Kings (worth $2,800)
  • A press pack with 2 drafted press releases distributed via Business Wire, a video interview produced and shared by GameOn and 2 thought-leadership articles placed within the SBC media network (worth $3,600)
  • A Receptional Prize Pack with the Receptional collaborating with the winner to create a tailored digital marketing experience (worth $12,000)

SBC North America will be taking place on May 9-11, 2023, at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey.
