PDC World Darts Championship selects Paddy Power for sponsor

The famous Irish bookmaker and central brand for the gaming giant Flutter Entertainment, Paddy Power, announced a new sponsorship agreement Monday. The bookmaker revealed it signed a new sponsorship deal with the PDC World Darts Championship, one of the most anticipated events within the sport. Each year, the event is watched by millions of darts fans while thousands attend it live.

The much-anticipated event is scheduled to take place between December 15, 2023, and January 3, 2024, at the famous Alexandra Palace venue in London, UK. The sponsorship collaboration between Paddy Power and PDC marks an important achievement for the duo, and it involves a remarkable investment by the betting company. As with other similar collaborations, Paddy Power will leverage its extensive experience and help elevate the experience of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship for the fans of the sport.

Matt Porter, PDC's Chief Executive, was delighted about the new partnership with Paddy Power and commented on the topic in a statement. "We’re delighted to welcome Paddy Power back to darts as our new title sponsors of the World Darts Championship – a deal which they’ve announced in their typically unique fashion with the help of some of our biggest stars," he said.

Finally, Porter added: "The World Darts Championship is the flagship event in our sport, and Paddy Power’s involvement will add extra excitement to an event which is already the highlight of the festive sporting period."

Michelle Spillane, Paddy Power's Marketing and Brand Director, was also excited to see the company sign the new sponsorship agreement with PDC. "When we agreed to step up to the oche with the PDC as new sponsors of the World Darts Championship, we knew we’d hit the bullseye," she said. Finally, Spillane noted: "This tournament is the ultimate example of sport colliding with entertainment, a mix we at Paddy Power are naturally drawn towards."

The latest sponsorship collaboration coincided with the news about the ticket sale for the upcoming event. PDC confirmed that a priority sale of tickets for this year's event is scheduled to start on Monday, July 31, 2023. Then, a general sale is set to launch on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Similar to other activations by Paddy Power, the betting company introduced a new entertaining clip highlighting its new sponsorship for the PDC World Darts Championship. The new video includes famous darts pros, including Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, Michael Smith, as well as Dimitri van den Bergh.
